On Saturday, Feb. 21 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Unitarian Universalist Church will open its doors to Summit students for their annual winter formal. The dance is a masquerade ball theme, which was chosen by Summit’s Student Council (STUCO).
“Our dance committee brainstormed some themes and then we had a full class discussion on the theme,” said STUCO and Summit senior Gemma Moussa. “It’s nice to get the whole student council involved for decisions like these.”
Last year’s winter formal, which had to be rescheduled due to inclement weather, was a notable letdown, with few students attending. After hearing student feedback, Moussa and STUCO’s dance coordinators wanted to ensure this year would be an improvement.
“Students have expressed wanting activities, more formal attire, a venue other than the school and lower ticket prices,” said Moussa. “We’ve done our best to make all of that happen.”
The dance will feature poker and a chocolate fountain in addition to the classic DJ and dancing.
“I think it’s really fun to get dressed up and go with your friends,” said Summit junior Rachel Lynch. “Just forget about school for a little while and have a good time.”
With a new venue and an array of activities, Summit’s 2026 winter formal is bound to be a night to remember.
Tickets can be purchased for $25 online or for $35 at the door. A portion of ticket proceeds will support our Sparrow, Benjamin, who is battling cancer.
