Renovating Oregons Aging Schools

Josephine Hall, Staff Writer

As of Thursday, November 10, 2022, 59.24% of Central Oregon voters support a $249.7 million dollar bond approved by the Bend-LaPine School District dedicated to renovating aging schools. Some of the district’s buildings were built more than 100 years ago, and the oldest (Grange Hall) was built in 1918. In need of modernization, maintenance, safety and security improvements, the bond will include 87 construction projects along with promises to keep the current tax rate. In addition to improving the decaying buildings, the project is expected to stimulate employment opportunities in Central Oregon.
