Fridays For Future Returns to Bend

Global climate strike happening March 3

Fridays+For+Future+Returns+to+Bend

On March 3, students and others standing up for the planet will be marching from Harmon Park to the Bend City Hall from 11 am until 1 pm.

Many people are making signs for the strike and hoping to improve the health of Earth. In a conjoined effort with Deschutes Youth Climate Congress, Bend Fridays For Future and fellow organizers demand that fossil fuels be banned nationally and hopefully globally along with de-incentivizing fossil fuel investment. Activists also demand to stop GTN Xpress Pipeline Expansion, a pipeline expansion proposal from TC Energy (the company behind the Keystone Pipelines). The pipeline will increase the volume of fracked gas by 150 million cubic feet per day through the aging Gas Transmission Northwest (GTN) Pipeline.

Along with the recent train collision resulting in a chemical disaster in East Palestine, Ohio, action must be taken immediately and voices must be heard for the sake of humanity, all other organisms and the planet. The people demand change from political leaders so the climate won’t.
