On October 1, Summit’s cross country team participated in a cross country tradition that has been going on for over a decade. The Oxford Classic is a race that brings in schools from all around Oregon to race here in Bend at Drake Park. The race starts in the middle of Drake Park and extends into Harmon Park where it loops around the baseball fields and kids’ play structure then ends with a full loop around Drake and ends near the bathrooms. Summit Men got 2nd place with Junior Noah Laughlin-Hall leading them. Laughlin-Hall won with a time of 16:15.3, followed by freshman Hayden Boaz in 3rd place with a time of 16:39.2. The women won the race with 5 racers in the top 7. Also, all 7 of the female Storm racers were in the top 9, and only 3 points from winning with a perfect score. Summit’s next race will be the Annual Rose City Championship Invitational in Portland on October 14.
