After winning the district title the previous weekend, on Sunday Feb. 19, the Summit Swim team competed for the 5A state championship title at Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center. The Summit boys team took home 1st place and the girls earned 3rd.

After a successful short course meet, the girls highlights included senior Ginger Kiefer placing first and junior Bridget Sortor earning third in the 500 freestyle. Freshman Adi Bennet earned fifth place in the 50 freestyle, and Clara Husaby placed fifth in the 100 butterfly. After placing second in both the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay, as well as placing fourth in the 200 freestyle relay, the girls gained enough points to secure their bronze.

For the boys, senior Liam Gilman placed first in the 100 breaststroke, after being seeded sixth, an impressive and unexpected win. Kian Warnock placed second in the 50 freestyle, and sophomores Landon Egland and Holden Short earned second and third place titles in the 500 freestyle. In all 3 relays, the Summit boys placed second overall.
