Mount Bachelor is once again partaking in its annual preseason flirtations with winter, as the mountain receives its first snowflakes. Although not enough of a dusting to warrant the snow stake, Bend residents alike have not been more compelled to watch the webcams with hopeful delusions of an early season.
Pumpkin spice has made its seasonal return. As summer exits, tourist traffic thins and familiar faces are filling coffee shops once again, allowing Bend to slip back into the routines that summer never allowed.
Summit football is still raining an undefeated title this season after blowing past Bend High with a 49–7 win this past Friday, Oct. 10. This victory is not only carrying the Storm football team into their upcoming games with Crook County on Oct. 18 and Caldera on Oct. 31, but also keeping school spirit high as AP exam sign-up deadlines start to close in.
With the addition of frosty air and the Cascades being blanketed in white, Bend settles into its fall season. The mornings smelling faintly of cinnamon and competition, hinting at the months ahead.
