This year’s Homecoming will be adorned with flowers, lanterns, blue tulle and the iconically recognizable tunes from the musical “Mamma Mia.” Summit’s 2025 Homecoming theme was selected as “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” and will be held on Oct. 4 in the Summit High School Commons.
The theme was officially announced this morning at Summit’s first schoolwide assembly for the 2025–26 school year. After some careful consideration from the Summit Student Council, the theme is solidified as “Mamma Mia.”
The Homecoming game will be the night before on Oct. 3, and Summit Football is scheduled to play against Ridgeview at the Summit turf starting at 7 p.m. Students have been directed to follow a White Out theme for the game. However, Homecoming and the Homecoming game are on separate nights, which allows for Homecoming to be a formal dress event.
Directors of Dance, Summit Senior Cecilia Dean and Sophomore Harper Jensen are in charge of planning all decorations, coordinating themes and overseeing all public outreach surrounding dance events for Student Council. This school year they have also been working to incorporate celebrations for Summit’s 25th anniversary.
“I hope everybody’s excited about [Homecoming]. I want everyone to come together for the 25th anniversary and to have a good time,” said Jensen.
When working on highlighting this milestone the Directors of Dance are also planning on using many silver elements, as it symbolizes the lasting spirit of these past 25 years.
“‘Mamma Mia, Here We Go Again’ is kind of a nod to the 25th anniversary. And we’re planning on bringing in aspects of silver into both the game before, and the homecoming dance night,” said Dean.
More details about tickets, possible food and drink, as well as Homecoming court are yet to be announced by Summit Student Council but for now, Summit students can anticipate a night filled with singing, dancing and ABBA.
