Summit students had their boots and dresses laid out for the Rhinestone Roundup on Saturday, Feb. 8, until they were notified that the dance was postponed due to weather conditions.
Activities Director and teacher Krista Brines explained that even though the weather in Bend will be 35°F, the real trouble comes with getting many of the dance’s attractions over the pass. The pink posters that adorn Summit’s entryway advertised bull riding, inflatable obstacle courses, line dancing and more. However, navigating a mountain range that has received consistent snow for the past several days can be an issue when transporting a mechanical bull.
As a result, student council had to reschedule and refine the winter dance. The newly christened “Nashville Nights” dance will be semi-formal, encouraging short dresses, and take place at Summit on March 8. Some of the attractions have been lost, but there will still be “line dancing, photo booths, and a 360 video booth,” according to Brines.
So grab your boots and a partner, and get ready to dance this Nashville Night away.
