Hundreds of gymnasts gathered for the first annual Central Oregon Classic Gymnastics meet on the weekend of Jan. 11 at the Riverhouse. This event marked the start of a yearly occurrence, and a new addition to Bend’s growing gymnastics community.
Gymnasts from all over Oregon and Washington joined the fun, spending the weekend at the Riverhouse and competing in the hotel’s convention center. The meet hosted junior Olympic levels one through ten and multiple excel levels. Oregon Olympic Academy (OOA) and Central Oregon Gymnastics Academy (COGA) gymnasts were able to attend the first ever large-scale meet hosted in Central Oregon.
“I think people will want to come back to this meet, it was all the things I would’ve liked as a gymnast,” remarked Summit Junior and event volunteer Macy Bailey.
Overall the meet was a success, drawing tourists to Bend and hosting a meet gymnasts will want to return to year after year.
