Girls…let’s talk about jean shorts. They can be too expensive ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, or they are weirdly lengthened, ripped and will most likely have your butt cheeks hanging out. Finding the right pair of shorts that meets every need with price, length and fit you have is very difficult.
“I think the most difficult part about finding jean shorts, for me, is finding some that fit my height. Since I’m shorter, shorts end up fitting too long on me or sit too high on my waist and I like a low waist short. Because of that I end up having to roll them to fit me,” said Freshman Nina Taft.
For any age whether you’re two or 65 or in between, the search for a comfy perfect pair of shorts is hard. As a teenage girl I want a pair of shorts that cover my butt so I can wear them around my family and I don’t want them shredded to pieces. Yet I also don’t want to drop my whole bank account on one pair of shorts. As it’s different for everyone, at least for myself I cracked the code.
Women’s Levis 501 90s shorts
“I like the Levi’s 501 long ones,” said Ellie Smithy, a Summit junior. For everyone who likes longer shorts, these are the must buy. The women’s 501 90s shorts fall a couple inches above the knees. They fit tight around the butt and looser around the thighs and the ends. They have a similar fit to the 501 jeans just in a long jort version.
Mavi Selina Cutoff Bermuda Denim Shorts
Another jean shorts that fall just above the kneecap are the Selina Cutoff Bermuda Denim Shorts. The brand Mavi Jeans ace these but you can also find them on Nordstrom. They have a nine and a half inch inseam. These shorts have a little frey on the ends but are very plain and have a nice medium wash.
Wrangler Women Reworked Short
Another short short is the Wrangler women’s reworked short. These are shorter and they come in 4 colors and are the best sellers on the website. They are the perfect length with an inseam of three and a half inches. They are high rise shorts but again like the Levi’s they stay below the belly button. And of course they fit perfectly around the butt and thighs.
Levi’s 501 Original Women’s High Rise Shorts
“I like the 501’s because of how they fit and they are not too short,” said Summit sophomore Jade Henson. Levi’s 501 original women’s high rise. This specific pair of shorts come in thousands of different colors, some with rips, some without. So every pair looks a little different but fits and styles the same. They cover your butt but are short enough so they don’t hit awkwardly. The material still feels like solid denim but doesn’t cut into every part of your body and is soft enough to be comfortable all day. They are a high rise short but not too much. So are they worth the $50? Yes.
Lastly, a few shops that have reasonably priced cute shorts are Old Navy and Tilly’s. The local thrift shops people have had luck at are Goodwill and Runway Fashion. I find a lot of Levi’s or wrangler shorts at the thrift store for lower prices and at least something similar.
Overall, it depends on your taste, but these few stores and shorts have been the most popular as of late. Jean shorts have always been a difficult piece of clothing to find the right size and fit, but on hot summer days it’s important to have a cute, easy piece of clothing. All of these shorts can fit the needs of all styles and are a perfectly priced piece for your hot girl summer.
