Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce went public Sept. 24, when the American singer/songwriter sat in Kelce’s personal booth at the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, the same stadium she sold out at her concert on July 7. Summit students, and the general public, are having mixed reactions to the new couple.
“I saw a TikTok that said, ‘I can’t believe Taylor let the Chiefs play in her stadium,’” said sophomore Macy Bailey.
After Kelce’s great game at the Arrowhead Stadium, he and Swift were seen riding away from the game in what fans are calling their “getaway car,” a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible from his collection. Fans went wild.
According to TMZ, Swift was said to be sitting on Kelce’s lap in a restaurant that he rented out for his after-party. While Swift fans at Summit are excited to see the singer happy, they don’t know if this new relationship is going to last.
“I honestly think Travis Kelce is kind of a douchebag, just based on different things I’m seeing on my phone,” said Bailey.
Other Summit students disagree. “I think they have similar enough jobs in the public eye, so they’ll understand each other,” said sophomore Scout Wolfkeil. “It’s been all over my TikTok, and some of my friends won’t stop talking about it.”
The impact this couple has on Summit students comes down to who you ask, and no one can really know how long it’s going to last. Only time will tell if this new celebrity couple is destined to succeed.
