2023 Masters Recap: Jon Rahm defeats Brooks Koepka

On Easter Sunday, 28 year old Jon Rahm claimed the title of the 2023 Masters Champion. Rham previously had one of his first major victories in the 2021 U.S. Open, although this was his very first Master’s win. Rahm is the second Spanish player to win two different majors, aside from Seve Ballesteros.

Leading up to Sunday, golfers endured 45 minutes of rain, which had delayed play Saturday and rest of the third round.

The beautiful Sunday morning of the 87th Masters final round, Rahm entered the final round behind Brooks Koepka with two strokes.

Previously, Koepka had begun with 13-under par, but had a pair of bogeys in his third round. Koepka fell to 11-under, with just two strokes ahead of Rahm. However, Koepka’s nervous play on the front nine allowed Rahm to surpass him on the leaderboard.

As for Rahm, he shot a 3-under 69 in the final round. Rahm finished with a strong lead of 12-under guaranteeing his win and claiming his green jacket.
