2023 Nike Indoor Track Nationals

Two Summit athletes go nationwide

On March 10-13, The Armory Track located in New York City hosted the Indoor Nike Nationals track meet. Taylin Bowen, a Summit freshman, and Abby Fagan, a sophomore, both met the qualifying times for their events. Runners come from all over the country and compete at different levels from middle school to college. Only the nation’s best championship athletes compete at meets just like these and Bowen and Fagan showed nothing but that.

Bowen ran the mile as well as the 800m and placed well in both, and Fagan ran the 400m, beating her personal record for the year. The athletes that ran here also qualified for upcoming outdoor track meets. Summit’s track team is strong and keeps improving each season and competing nationally gives individual athletes a chance to prove that. By competing on Summit’s winter track team, called Mondo, athletes can get a strong start to a great spring season. Mondo is affiliated with Summit, but also open to the public for more athletes from other schools.

“The overall experience is super amazing, the track there is so pretty and every athlete I came across was super sweet and happy to be there,” Taylin Bowen said, “It was super fun to race against them, they are all really encouraging.”

For Summit runners that are given the opportunity to run at such a high level, the experience won’t disappoint. Athletes all around the world can come together and run at Nike Indoor Nationals, breaking personal records and national records.
