Bend-La Pine Schools switch to Proficiency based grading
One of the most talked about topics for all students throughout Bend-La Pine District from the end of 2021-2022 and the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year all students were informed by Proficiency based grading. The Bend-La Pine District has encouraged all teachers to have a 1-4 grading scale; however, most teachers still choose to use a traditional 1-100 scale for this year, as they will have to fully switch over to the 1-4 scale by the beginning of 2023-2024 school year. The general goal of proficiency-based learning is to make sure that the students are collecting the knowledge and skills that are necessary to succeed in school, college and any career. If a student fails to meet the learning standards, they will get more time to practice, and support to help them achieve or to meet the standards that the Bend-La Pine District wants for all students.
