Men’s Water Polo Update (Fall Edition)

Chris Ryder, Staff Writer

The Summit boys water polo team got off to a hot start in the state playoffs with an 18-3 win against Cottage Grove. The Summit offense was powered by seniors Ryder Cook, Eric Verheyden, Thayer Collins, Heath Craft, Brian McCarthy and Kian Warnock all scoring. Goalkeeper Soren Chopra held Cottage Grove off, only letting in one goal in three quarters of play. This was another win during a stellar season for the storm. Cook, Chopra, Verheyden, Craft and Collins all were selected to an all league team with Cook, Collins, Verheyden and Chopra being named to first team and Craft being named to second team as well as Cook being league MVP and freshman Lars Heraeus earning an honorable mention. The storm will face Hillsboro High next in the state semifinals on Nov 11 at the Osborn aquatic center in Corvallis Oregon.
